UpwardSpiralApril 21, at 10:00 am, 3845 North Swan Street  – “’Upward Spiral’ – Four Woman Poets of Silver City.”

In honor of Poetry Month our program will feature “Upward Spiral" a book of poems from four women poets: Shelly Barnett, Leonore Hildebrandt, Pamela Warren Williams, and Lynne Zotalis. The poems in the anthology “Upward Spiral” evoke transformation and the power of the natural world.

“A love of poetry brought us together initially. Kindred spirits and abiding respect for each

other’s voices have now solidified our bond and commitment to each other with the completion

of this excellent book. We are so grateful for the response, the energy Upward Spiral has

generated. Timing is everything and it appears our poems are having an extremely positive

influence extending outward, touching our readers in profound ways,” said Lynne Zotalis, speaking for herself and the other poets of “Upward Spiral.”

Shelly Barnett moved to Silver City from the Pacific Northwest, immersing herself in the writing community facilitating Fireside Poetry every second Saturday from 12-2 at the TranquilBuzz Coffee House and Poetic Outlaws every fourth Friday at 6:30 at Javalina Coffee House.

Leonore Hildebrandt has authored three poetry collections, contributed to many poetry

journals, and been nominated for a Pushcart Prize among other accolades. Hildebrandt is a

prolific song writer performing on her guitar and drums.

Pamela Warren Williams is a poet and visual artist and operates a successful publishing

company, Mercury Heartlink: www.heartlink.com . She has written two poetry books and

contributed to many anthologies.

Lynne Zotalis is an award-winning author for Hippie at Heart (What I Used To Be, I Still Am), as well as a poet and chairperson for the Silver City chapter of the NM State Poetry Society. Her short stories and poetry have appeared in over 30 publications.

Childcare is available every Sunday. Zoey Cronin will lead a formal children's program on second and fourth Sundays.

Children are welcome to participate on any Sunday, but they will get the most out of the program if they attend second and fourth Sundays somewhat regularly. Family adults may stay for the children's program or attend the adult program. Children are encouraged to bring a small item that represents someone or something they are grateful for that week.

Please join us before the service for a drum circle commemorating one of the four solar festivals of the year. We’ll be meeting on the Fellowship patio at 9:30 am for a Spring Equinox celebration. All are welcome. Bring your drums, rattles, bells, and other percussion instruments. Or else you can use your chanting voice and your dancing moves. No formal program - just let nature take its course!

There are speakers on the patio if you wish to enjoy the service outside.

UUFSC Safety Protocol as pursuant to our most recent UUA Guidelines:

Masks are now optional, but their use is encouraged. We will continue to serve refreshments on the patio and in the building. Visitors are always welcome.
