Unclaimed Monies

A number of governmental entities in Grant County appear to have unclaimed monies owed to them. These funds are being held by the New Mexico Taxation and Revenue Department.
During the past two months, The Chronicles Of Grant County has contacted several of the governmental entities that serve people of Grant County to determine if funds that appear to be unclaimed monies due to those governmental entities are in fact funds due to them.
One of the governmental entities that may have funds held in Santa Fe is the Fort Bayard Medical Center. According to information on the MissingMoney.Com website, funds potentially owed to the Fort Bayard Medical Center in excess of $100 from Norwest Bank as well as funds in excess of $100 from Presbyterian Health Plan. Also, two sets of funds – each in excess of $100 – are held by the State from United Healthcare Insurance potentially for the Medical Center. In addition, two sets of funds potentially owed to the Medical Center from Novartis Pharmaceuticals are each in excess of $100.
The spellings for some of these listings are not obvious. For example, two of listings abbreviated "Center" and "Fort" and used the four words of the name of the Fort Bayard Medical Center in a format different from its official name. United Healthcare Insurance addressed two of its letters to the "Bayard Medical Cnt Ft."
"The Fort Bayard Medical Center has a collection rate of 97% overall," according to Sherri Bays, Finance Director of the Fort Bayard Medical Center. She welcomed the contact from The Chronicles Of Grant County and The Grant County Beat: "Fort Bayard Medical Center is appreciative of your pointing out the listings on the website. We are working with the New Mexico Taxation and Revenue Department regarding the listings that may involve money owed to the facility."
The Village of Santa Clara also welcomed word of potential funds due to the municipal government. According to information on the MissingMoney.Com website, funds potentially owed to the Village in excess of $100 from AmBank may be held by the State of New Mexico.
"The Village is now aware due to your notification of the monies possibly due to them and will be moving forward on the research," stated Sheila Hudman, Clerk/Treasurer of the Village of Santa Clara. "Thank you."
Some of the governmental entities contacted are still reviewing information provided by The Chronicles Of Grant County. Other governmental entities have, thus far, declined to respond to emails and/or telephone calls regarding monies that may be due to those entities. It is the intent of this news column to provide sufficient time for the governmental entities to review whether funds that appear to be due to those entities are in fact due to them.
Information about these unclaimed funds potentially due to governmental entities in Grant County will be detailed in future editions of The Chronicles Of Grant County.
