Washington, D.C. - Nearly three years to the day after canceling the Keystone XL pipeline, President Joe Biden halted permits on liquified natural gas export projects, which have sharply increased following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in February. Daniel Turner, Founder and Executive Director for Power The Future responded with the following statement:

“This type of appeasement by the Biden Administration would make Neville Chamberlain proud. Handing a major win to the extreme environmental left and Vladimir Putin is bad enough. Doing it in the shameless pursuit of his re-election chances is even worse. Every Democrat in Congress who purports to support Ukraine must stand up and call on Biden to reverse this reckless decision. Destroying Americans jobs while weakening support for our allies is disgraceful behavior and beneath the office Biden wants to hold for another four years."

As reported by the Associated Press, "U.S. exports of liquefied natural gas began less than a decade ago, but have grown rapidly in recent years to the point that the U.S. has become the world’s largest gas exporter. Exports rose sharply after Russia’s February 2022 invasion of Ukraine, and Biden and Granholm have celebrated the delivery of U.S. gas to Europe and Asia as a key geopolitical weapon against Russian President Vladimir Putin."
