Easter Bunny Visiting Southwest New Mexico

Nuacht Aoir has learned – exclusively – that the Easter Bunny is visiting Southwest New Mexico. While staying with friends in the Red River Valley of Texas, the Easter Bunny initially declined to confirm his annual visit to the Gila.
But through dogged investigation, Nuacht Aoir found a number of tell-tale signs that the Easter Bunny is here: A local lodging establishment with very special requests from a confidential guest. A bunny that hops faster than any other bunny seen by Nuacht Aoir. And twinkles in the eyes of children in Silver City and Lordsburg as they smile when asked if they have seen the Easter Bunny.
"We do have a special guest visiting Casitas de Gila this week," said Becky and Michael O'Connor, owners of Casitas de Gila; these guesthouses are located in Gila in northwest Grant County. "Because of customer confidentiality, of course, we cannot confirm the identity of our special guest."
The O'Connors said that everyone else staying at their guesthouses "…prefer our beds with mattresses and pillows provided."
"We have also furnished large containers of water for our special guest," the O'Connors continued. "They prefer the ability to sip water at their leisure."
Casitas de Gila has secured a variety of foods that appear to be favorites of the Easter Bunny.
"In addition, we have a wide selection of fresh vegetables and fruits provided daily to our special guest," said the O'Connors. "Of course, we have carrots. We also have selections of fennel, celery leaves, and other vegetables. For fruits, our special guest enjoys sampling small quantities of bananas, apples, and grapes, among other items."
Details indicate that the special guest enjoys the outdoors in this area – from Grant County into both Catron County and Hidalgo County.
The O'Connors let it slip that "our special guest noted that his whiskers – sorry, we mean their nose – is quite sensitive and allows them to travel throughout our region by helping to determine if they can fit through a certain space and not get stuck."
"It's wonderful to see our special guest return from visiting with friends in the nearby wilderness and forested areas," the O'Connors stated. "To see him hop in – sorry, I mean come in – to his casita with a smile is a joy."
"We are honored to have our special guest with us," the O'Connors concluded.
With this information, Nuacht Aoir continued our intrepid reporting that has allowed us to confirm that the Easter Bunny is here in Southwest New Mexico.
Nuacht Aoir spotted the Easter Bunny visiting with several bighorn sheep and some quail near the banks of the Gila River.
The Easter Bunny was gracious enough to grant Nuacht Aoir an exclusive interview.
"I truly enjoy coming to the Gila," stated the Easter Bunny. "It's great to visit with my friends in the wilderness. There's so much to see. And fresh water is always nearby. I love to nibble my way through the fields and woodlands."
He declined to confirm where he was staying, but did indicate that the Easter Bunny will be visiting the homes of every good little boy and good little girl in Southwest New Mexico.
"I anticipate being able to stop by most every home this coming Sunday," the Easter Bunny said. "While I hope that all little boys and all little girls have been good this year, the Easter Bunny believes all children are good at heart – even those children that may still be working on aspects of their goodness."
For those children celebrating Orthodox Easter Sunday, the Easter Bunny stated that "there will be some homes in Southwest New Mexico that I visit on the following Sunday when our Orthodox neighbors celebrate Easter."
Again this year, the Easter Bunny also confirmed that his worldwide travels will take him to war-torn lands.
"I am fortunate to have good relations with all of the national leaders throughout the world," the Easter Bunny explained. "While not all countries get along with one another, I have been given assurances by all of the world's leaders that the Easter Bunny will have safe passage throughout all lands and will continue to be welcomed in all homes. As in past years, two trips will be made – one on this coming Easter Sunday and one the following week on Orthodox Easter Sunday."
With that note of hope and with a wave of his paw, the Easter Bunny scooted off deeper into the Gila.
