Position Title: Deputy Sheriff
FLSA: Regular / Full-time / Union Represented
Salary Range: Certified Officer: Min $34,379 Mid $42,973 Max $51,568
Cadet: $31,145

Duties & Responsibilities:
Deputies are responsible for general law enforcement duties and the service of civil process. Such duties include operation of emergency vehicles, answering of citizen calls for service criminal investigations, traffic accident investigation and enforcement, arrests, prisoner transports, courtroom security, court testimony, report writing, and any other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
· Must be 21 years of age, at time of employment.
· Applicant must be a citizen of the United States, and must possess a valid New Mexico Driver’s License (or obtain one, prior to employment) and possess a good driving record for insurance purposes.
· Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
· Applicant must have no felony or domestic violence convictions on record or misdemeanor for moral turpitude.
· Applicant must be able to pass an extensive background investigation; and must not make any false statements concerning a material fact.
· Successful applicant will be required to take a physical exam, including a drug-screening test.
· Deputies, by State Law, must obtain New Mexico Police Officer Certification within 364 days of hire. Deputies hired without certification shall serve one-year probationary period at a minimum, six (6) months of which must be served after certification has been obtained. Deputies who are hired with New Mexico Police Officer certification shall serve six (6) month probationary period commencing upon the date of hire.
Preferred Qualifications:
· Certified Deputy
· Ability to communicate in Spanish is a plus.
