Salary Range 3: Min. $31,408 Mid. $36,129 Max. $40,830
Salary contingent upon experience
Probation: Six (6) month probationary period

Job Summary:
Under general supervision of Assessor or other designated supervisor by Assessor, the Appraiser- Associate will assist with all residential and commercial properties for valuation purposes in accordance with state statutes.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Performs appraisal of property parcels including field inspection, data collection, review, and analysis of value and real estate sales data.
- Monitor processing of appraisal data through computer entry and audit procedures.
- Utilize drawing software, Microsoft Word, Excel and reappraisal programs.
- Compare buildings and sales of similar properties to develop market valuation appraisals.
- Measure and draw basic property dimensions and collect information for County properties for valuation.
- Respond to questions or concerns raised by taxpayers.
- Ability to read legal property descriptions
- Resolve taxpayer issues with analytical and problem-solving skills. Applicant must disclose real or perceived conflicts of interest and must abide by the Governmental Conduct Act (NMSA 10-16-1 (et seq.).
- Perform other required duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School diploma or GED.
- Must possess a valid New Mexico driver’s license and have a good driving record to be insurable for liability purposes.
- Must have the ability to operate a computer, its software and general office equipment
- Able to use MS Office.
- Good communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Good organizational skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Ability to communicate in Spanish is a plus
- Successful completion of IAAO Courses I or a recognized certified appraisal course.
- OR successful completion of a Market Valuation and Income Capitalization Course
- OR current licensure from the NM Real Estate Commission or the NM Real Estate Appraisers Board,
- OR two (2) years of experience in property appraisal, real estate sales or other related experience.
Grant County Benefits:
