NEW MEXICO PUSHING FOR VOTERS TO USE MAIL-IN BALLOTS FOR THIS COMING JUNE PRIMARY

New Mexico Secretary of State Maggie Toulouse Oliver is encouraging registered voters to request absentee ballots ahead of the state’s June 2 Primary Election. State officials say they're pushing this due to the Coronavirus. We all want to be safe and healthy and take the proper precautions during this pandemic, but absentee ballots are often where voter fraud can happen. We all want free and fair elections in 2020, and ballot integrity is paramount.

Here's the story from the AP

GOV. LUJAN GRISHAM COULD CALL FOR A SPECIAL LEGISLATIVE SESSION

Pressure is building for a Special Session as Gov. Lujan Grisham acknowledges there might be a need in June or July to address fiscal problems. Such a legislative session would come amid a sputtering economy and plunging world oil prices, which are threatening to undermine major sources of state government income.

Legislative Republicans warned you, Governor.

New Mexico House Republicans recent called on the governor to hold such a special session.

“We have people hurting all over New Mexico and we need to address those,” said House Minority Leader Jim Townsend (R)-Artesia. The falling price of oil recently is “considerably below our budget forecast,” Townsend said. “And although I know we have some reserves … I don’t believe it’s prudent on our part to consume all of our reserves before we make a decision.”

House Republican leaders sent a letter to Lujan Grisham detailing their concerns. They called for budget cuts based on new revenue projections and urged saving current reserves.
