IMPORTANT MESSAGE FROM THE PARTY
During the Coronavirus pandemic, the Republican Party of New Mexico encourages everyone to take precautions, practice safe health measures and do what's required to protect oneself and families. The Party stresses that the health and safety of all New Mexicans are paramount. Therefore, the Party is currently conducting operations and communications remotely. The Party continues its mission and engagement, but will utilize virtual/remote practices for outreach, projects, campaign events and other initiatives.
EARLY VOTING BEGINS FOR THE PRIMARY ELECTION
Early voting for the Primary Election has begun.
You can continue to request to vote absentee, or go to your county clerk's office or courthouse in person to vote early.
You can apply for your absentee ballot through May 28.
You can vote in-person at county clerk's office/courthouses through May 30.
Beginning May 16, counties may open additional polling locations to vote. Please check with your county clerks for more information.

WHAT'S HAPPENING
RPNM CALLS ON U.S. ATTORNEY GENERAL WILLIAM BARR TO REVIEW GOV. LUJAN GRISHAM'S PUBLIC HEALTH ORDER
The Republican Party of New Mexico, GOP House Leader Jim Townsend and the Sheriffs' Association have each sent the U.S. Attorney General letters asking for a review of the governor's public health order. The letters call on William Barr to look into whether the governor's policies violate New Mexicans' civil rights and their right to free commerce. State Police have fined small businesses at the behest of the governor's Administration. Questions have been raised about the governor's authority and her unjust and inequitable policies that favor keeping national chains open while shuttering small mom-and-pop establishments.

STATE POLICE HIT SIERRA COUNTY CHURCH WITH CEASE AND DESIST ORDER
On Mother's Day New Mexico State Police served the pastor of New Hope Revival Church in Sierra County with a Cease & Desist order for his House of Worship. The Sierra County Sheriff had deputized the congregation in an effort to assist law enforcement during this pandemic. The church last weekend opens its doors to member to worship. Then State Police hit Pastor Caleb Cooper with the order per Administration policy. This is another example of how peoples' rights are being trampled on. The state's position is now to ignore the notion that our Constitution continues even in a crisis and to infringe upon the civil rights of our citizens and their rights to freely worship. Despite the order, Cooper says he'll continue to hold services.
THE CITY OF GALLUP LOCKDOWN EXPIRES BUT PROBLEMS REMAIN
The lockdown in Gallup is over, but city officials say the COVID-19 problem there is still persists. The governor had ordered the lockdown because of the high number of cases of COVID-19 in McKinley County. The lockdown didn't do much to help as some residents left the city to do business in neighboring communities.
NEW MEXICO UNEMPLOYMENT SOARS
More than 130,000 New Mexicans have lost their jobs during the pandemic. The job losses are putting more pressure on families and food banks in the state. The governor continues to shut down small businesses in the state, crippling peoples' livelihoods. We are losing billions of dollars, and, along with the oil price plunge, the state deficit will be in the billions this coming year. It could be years before our economy recovers.
