Extended Fracking Moratorium Will Eliminate Jobs, Hurt the Economy, and Increase America's Dependence on Foreign Fuels

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, President Biden made a series of climate-related announcements that include a moratorium on oil and gas leasing on federal lands. This radical decision will only serve to destroy American jobs, shrink a major industry, and increase our reliance on foreign energy.

"Today's announcement confirms our worst fear," said Daniel Turner, Executive Director of Power The Future. "President Biden is committed to destroying the natural gas and oil industry, and he isn't wasting any time. Elections have consequences and halting fossil fuel leasing on federal lands will cost America good-paying jobs and much-needed revenue, in addition to squandering the energy independence that President Trump fought so hard to achieve."

On his first day in office, President Biden signed a series of radical, climate-related Executive Orders to appease the eco-left. This included rejoining the Paris Climate Agreement, canceling the Keystone XL pipeline permit, and enacting a 60-day suspension of oil and gas leasing on federal land.

These actions have already eliminated thousands of American jobs, crippling the industry and allowing China an opportunity to seize control of the world's energy supply chain. By extending his 60-day ban on fracking, President Biden is only compounding these problems at a time when America cannot afford even more economic hardship.
