Results Delivered as New Mexico Sets New Gas Price Record

Albuquerque – Just as New Mexico breaks the record for the highest gas prices ever, a new report highlights just how crippling energy prices are for families. A new survey from HelpAdvisor reveals exactly how New Mexicans are struggling with massive energy prices. Findings from the survey include:

  • More than 40% of New Mexicans couldn’t pay their energy bills every month.

  • Over 490,000 New Mexicans could not pay their energy bill at least once during the last year.

  • 1 in 5 New Mexicans kept their home at an unsafe temperature because of concerns over energy costs. The 20% in this category represented the highest percentage in the country.

  • 30.6% of New Mexicans went without food or medicine in order to pay their energy bill. This percentage was the second-highest in the entire country.

“The day of reckoning for Michelle Lujan Grisham’s failed energy agenda is here,” said Larry Behrens, Communications Director for Power The Future. “The answer to fix these terrible results is simple: we need a national and statewide U-turn toward American energy independence. The energy workers of New Mexico are the best in the world at producing affordable and reliable energy and it is past time Washington and Santa Fe get out of the way.”
