The results are in, and New Mexico has ranked at the bottom of the states again in several key metrics, according to the Annie E. Casey Foundation’s 2023 Kid’s Count Data Book.

According to the report, New Mexico ranks 50th overall in child well-being.

New Mexico also ranks 49th in economic well-being, and 50th in education.

Additionally, the report reveals a growing decline in several areas, including:

Children whose parents lack secure employment

Fourth-graders not proficient in reading

Eighth-graders not proficient in math

Despite Gov. Lujan Grisham’s boasting about the economy, there has only been a minimal improvement in many statistics such as child poverty, which only saw a 1% improvement.

Finally, health in New Mexico is ranked 44th, and family and community is ranked 48th in the nation.

All in all, these results are heartbreaking and a sad picture of the current state of New Mexico under decades of Democratic-majority control.

The definition of insanity is repeating the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. It's time to end almost a century of failed Democratic policies and take a new, positive direction.

Our children deserve better. Our families deserve better. New Mexico deserves better.
