Altars to the dead, called ofrendas, have been set up in various galleries around Silver City to honor deceased loved ones for All Souls' Day, November 2.
A blessing of the ofrenda at Artesanos Gallery (211-B North Texas St) will be held on Sunday, November 2 at 1 pm.
Also, the WNMU Newman Club Young Adult Ministry, in collaboration with the Expressive Arts Department, the Art Club and the Miller Library will present Atziry Apodaca's ofrenda "in honor of our dead." Festivities will include a process with music from the Student Memorial Building courtyard ending at an altar in the foyer of the Miller Library. The opening celebration will take place from 6-8 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 2. Refreshments will follow.
