A committee of area citizens have helped plan a Job Fair, hosted by Congressman Steve Pearce. The Job Fair will take place Thursday, Nov. 10, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the back of the Grant County Business and Conference Center.

Job seekers are advised to enter by the gate beside the front door on the eastern end of the center through the patio and into the kitchen door.

Registration will take place at a table just inside the door.

Pearce will make introductory remarks at 8 a.m.

“This fair is all about how we can get someone a job,” Tim Keithly of Pearce's office said.

As of this morning's meeting, at least 24 businesses have signed up to participate, because they have jobs to offer. Several of the committee continued to contact businesses.

Confirmed businesses, as of Nov. 4, were BeautiControl, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southwestern New Mexico, Celllular Connection, CLP Resources, Coordinated Home Health Care Inc., Fort Bayard Medical Center, Freeport-McMoRan Copper & Gold Inc.,  JBC International, Mary Kay, Maurices, Options Home Health Care, Silver City Police Department, Silver City Workforce Connections, U.S. Border Patrol, U.S. Department of Justice DEA, Western New Mexico University, Silver Consolidation Schools, Gila Regional Medical Center, Palmas Restaurant, West Texas Express (CDL), U.S. Marine Corps, U.S. Army, Walmart and Walgreen's and Cobre Consolidated Schools.

Members of the committee include representatives from New Mexico Workforce Connections, WNMU, and the Silver City-Grant County Chamber of Commerce.

Workforce Connections will also have a table available for those you are hiring, but have no one available to man a table.

Any business wanting to have a table at the job fair, should contact Mary Morris at 575-522-0771.

The event is co-hoted by Pearce, the SC-GC Chamber of Commerce and WNMU.
