Girls from Girl Scout troops in Grant County, part of the Girl Scouts of the Desert Southwest Council, celebrated Thinking Day on Feb. 22, 2017.
The day, Feb. 22, each year, is set aside worldwide for Girl Scout and Girl Guides to celebrate a day that brings them together as one large organization. The theme of the 2017 Thinking Day was "Grow."
Girls in local troops chose to learn more about individual countries throughout the world and showed posters and had giveaways at each table.
Also on hand was Stella Norman, a former Girl Scout leader, who collected patches from each community where she served as a leader. In a military family, because they moved fairly frequently, she was a leader in many places throughout the U.S., as well as overseas. She had patches from Stuttgart, Germany, and from one of the Girl Scout International Centres, Our Chalet, on the outskirts of Adelboden, Switzerland.
