After they finished their own clay pots, they were encouraged to check out the real Mimbres pottery featured at the museum
The Silver City Museum got into the act of the annual Clay Festival by promoting Family Fun: Mimbres Pottery Workshop at the museum on Saturday, July 20, 2019.
While participants worked on their clay pots, volunteers Gail Avignone and Erin Griffith talked about the history of Mimbres pottery and showed the participants design examples that they could copy. One interesting fact was that the Mimbres artists never signed their works. Many of their pieces were utilitarian rather than decorative.
