World's largest girl-led entrepreneurial program has a sweet new way to celebrate girl leaders.

El Paso, TX —Girl Scouts of the Desert Southwest (GSDSW) is officially launching the 2020 Girl Scout CookieTM season. Cookie Season will begin Saturday, January 18, 2020 and GSDSW will be distributing cookies to all troop leaders from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Coleman American Moving Service Warehouse – 9601 Railroad, El Paso, TX, 79924. The council will be distributing more than 135,000 boxes of cookies to get troops through the first week of cookie sales. Last year was our third consecutive year where we ranked number one in the nation in per girl average sales with each Girl Scout in the council selling an average of 452 boxes. This season, Girl Scouts is announcing a sweet new way to celebrate young female leaders: refreshed packaging reflecting the amazing experiences cookie earnings make possible for girls.

The Girl Scout Cookie Program® teaches girls about entrepreneurship as they have fun learning five key skills: money management, business ethics, decision making, goal setting and people skills which set them up for a lifetime of success. Nine in ten Girl Scouts say the cookie program has built their entrepreneurship skills and their interest in pursuing entrepreneurship as a career path—so every cookie purchase is an investment in the world-changing business leaders of tomorrow. What’s more, each and every purchase stays local to power amazing experiences and leadership opportunities for girls in communities across the United States.

Girl Scouts of the USA’s refreshed cookie packaging (with the same great taste!) continues to emphasize what the cookie program is all about, and the updated images feature current Girl Scouts taking part in a diverse range of experiences available to members—from adventure-packed camping and canoeing, to exploring space science and designing robots, to taking action to improve their communities. Every purchase of Girl Scout Cookies makes experiences like these possible for girls in your local community.

“The Girl Scout Cookie Program allows our girls to be CEOs for their own business. While learning our five key business skills, they are also using this as a great opportunity to raise money for fun events, educational activities and community projects. The program also plays a huge role in guiding our girls to discover their capabilities as future leaders of tomorrow,” said Patty Craven, CEO of GSDSW. “Our council uses cookie earnings to power amazing experiences for girls through our programming, while girls and their troops decide how to invest in impactful community projects and personal enrichment opportunities.”

Girl Scout Cookies can only be purchased from a registered Girl Scout. To find Girl Scouts selling cookies near you, visit www.girlscoutcookies.org or use the official Girl Scout Cookie Finder app, free on iOS and Android devices.
