In reference to the incident which occurred in Hanover prior to the Bayard incident already posted here, a Grant County Sheriff's Office deputy was dispatched to 5457 Highway 152 in Hanover on Tuesday, May 5, at 9:14 p.m., being advised by Grant County Regional Dispatch Authority of a suspicious person yelling in Spanish.

According to a police report, when the deputy arrived contact was made with two male victims and two female witnesses, who advised that a male named Gabriel Torres attempted to run the two males down with the white 2007 Ford Expedition he was driving. After nearly succeeding in hitting the pair with the vehicle, Torres then drove off through a neighbor's fence. Tire tracks in the yard at the scene, the report said, confirmed the victims' and witnesses' account of the attempted run-down.

Torres was located at a later time on Highway 180 -- MM 122 during a traffic stop still driving the white Expedition, which displayed fresh damage to the front bumper, side fender, and side door.

Torres was taken into custody for an active warrant and other charges may be pending from the latest incident on Park Street in Bayard, this report said. Torres was charged in this Hanover incident with two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and criminal damage to property at or above $1,000.
