Cody Petty, Chairman of the Republican Party of Grant County, announced that Ben Hall, Public Regulations Commissioner - District 5, will be speaking at the next monthly meeting of the Republican Party of Grant County on Wednesday, October 19, 2011 at 6 pm. This informative meeting will take place at the Red Barn Restaurant in Silver City. We encourage everyone to bring your questions or concerns and join the conversation.

Ben Hall is a native New Mexican and a lifelong conservative Republican. After graduating from Ruidoso High School and attending college at New Mexico Western in Silver City, Ben became a General Building Contractor, a business he ran successfully for almost 40 years.

Along the way, Ben always made time to serve his fellow New Mexicans. He served three terms in the New Mexico House of Representatives, where he was a member of the Business and Industry Committee, the Transportation Committee, the Energy, Minerals and Natural Resources Committee and the Higher Education Committee. Ben has also served as Lincoln County Commissioner, and as a member of the Airport Board, the Lincoln County Planning and Zoning Commission, the Regional Wastewater Treatment Plant Joint Use Board, and other organizations devoted to the betterment of New Mexico.

In 2010, Ben was elected by his fellow New Mexicans to a four-year term as the District 5 Commissioner for the Public Regulation Commission. Ben's platform was simple but effective - he believes that every citizen has the right to expect that their interests will be protected by their elected officials and that every elected official, from the Governor on down, has the obligation to give his or her individual attention to all matters that come before them.

Ben Hall intends to use his experience in business and as an elected official to help bring about badly needed changes at the PRC. He has invited his fellow commissioners to join him in carrying out his mandate to review and simplify PRC rules and regulations and to reorganize the agency to the extent necessary to efficiently and effectively serve the people of New Mexico. Most importantly, Ben's door is always open.
