The Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Silver City, 3845 N. Swan Street, February 19, 2017, 10 am. "How You Can Support Change Through Local Government"- Alicia Edwards, who was just elected to the Grant County Board of Commissioners, will speak on her belief in the UU principles of "the right of conscience and the use of the democratic process within our congregations and in society at large" and "the goal of world community with peace, liberty, and justice for all" These principals have guided her in recent experiences of witnessing Indigenous Water Protectors at Dakota Access Pipeline protest on the Standing Rock Sioux Reservation, as well as in her running for Commissioner.

Edwards is also is also the vice chair of the Grant County Community Foundation and founding director of the Volunteer Center. She is a published poet, author, photographer and sculptor whose art and images are in private collections in the US, Canada and England. There will be coffee and conversation after the service. Visitors are most welcome.
