slash disposal rsGlenwood, NM — The Glenwood Ranger District has a public slash disposal site on the Sheridan Road south of Glenwood, NM. Catron and Grant County residents are allowed to dump vegetative materials free of charge.

The Sheridan Slash Disposal site is normally burned once a year by the Glenwood RD's firefighter crews. This site is for vegetative materials only. As long as the district is burning vegetative materials, they remain in compliance with the New Mexico Air Quality regulations. Recently, there has been large piles of trash dumped at the site. When there is trash at the site the firefighters must sort through the trash and remove the non-vegetative materials prior to burning. Erick Stemmerman, Glenwood District Ranger stated "it can be a health and safety hazard to have our firefighters sorting through garbage."

If you live in Catron County and wish to dispose of trash you may take it to the Catron County Solid Waste Convenience Center. Their locations and schedules can be found at http://catroncounty.us/custom.html?id=16554. If you live in Grant County and wish to dispose of trash you may take it to the Grant County Solid Waste Landfills. Their locations and schedules can be found at http://www.grantcountynm.com/grant_county_nm_info.php?CID=388.
