Silver City, NM, January 2, 2019—The first half of the film Tough Guise 2 will be shown during the January 8 meeting of PFLAG Silver City. The meeting begins at 7:00 p.m. at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Silver City, 3845 N. Swan. The public is invited, and refreshments will be served. The second half of the film will be shown at the February 5 meeting.

Although Tough Guise 2 was released in 2013, its themes resonate today, especially in light of #MeToo and the continuing epidemic of men’s violence in the U.S. Filmmaker Jackson Katz, an anti-violence educator, explores the sexist and homophobic messages boys and young men routinely receive from virtually every corner of the culture, from television and movies, video games, and advertising to the sports culture and U.S. political culture. Tough Guise 2 stands to empower a new generation of young men–and women–to challenge the myth that being a real man means putting up a false front and engaging in violent and self-destructive behavior.

Uniting people who are lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ) with families, friends, and allies, PFLAG is committed to advancing equality through its mission of support, education, and advocacy. For more information call 575-590-8797 or visit the website pflagsilver.org
