horse wagaon2.19 copyHorse drawn wagon from the 2018 event.The holiday season will begin with the 29th Annual Lighted Christmas Parade on Saturday, November 30, 2019 at 7 pm. This community event is sponsored by Silver City MainStreet, the Town of Silver City, and Hidalgo Medical Services.  The parade travels down Broadway to Bullard Street and ends on Pope Street.

shop small volunteersShop Small 2018 with Mary Ann Finn and Donna Schaeffer“The parade is a twenty-nine year long tradition in Silver and each year we see new organizations entering floats along with annual entries, states Patrick Hoskins, Board President of Silver City MainStreet. This year, we are seeing more individual entries and we are so happy to see families participating.”

Awards for the parade will be given immediately after the parade at the Silco Theater.

In addition to the parade, there will be a horse drawn wagon to take shoppers around downtown Friday and Saturday, November 29 and 30 sponsored by the Town of Silver City. It is also Shop Small Saturday and Silver City MainStreet will have a welcome station at The Hub, 601 N. Bullard St. from 10 am to 2 pm with give aways and free drawings. More than forty businesses will be offering special deals. It’s a great weekend to shop locally and have fun with your family and out of town guests.

The Fabulous Fiber Art Tree is also on display at The Hub. The 12 foot tall tree was a collaborative project between the SW Women’s Fiber Arts Collective and Silver City MainStreet. Work started on the tree in February of this year, with dozens of community members donating 6 by 6 inch fiber art squares. A smaller sister to the Fabulous Fiber Art Tree is on display at the Murray Ryan Visitor Center.
