Reverend Carla Friedrich, lead pastor of the New Church of the Southwest Desert, will talk to the Silver City Rotary Club on December 10 about “The Oasis of Silver City: A Community Gathering Place.”  The Oasis is a new interfaith coffee house on Bullard Street.

Wendy Spurgeon, a local Rotarian who is coordinating December speakers for the club, invites members of the public to come to the meeting and “hear the inspiring story of how several faith groups and community members rolled up their sleeves together to transform the old Domino’s building into the Oasis Coffee and Tea House with its mission to nourish the body, mind and spirit.”

The Silver City Rotary Club meets every Tuesday for lunch in the Sunset Room of the Western New Mexico University Student Cafeteria in the WNMU Student Memorial Building. Members of the public are welcome to attend any Rotary meeting if the presentation being made is of interest to them. The lunch line opens at noon, the meeting begins at 12:15 p.m. and the presentation begins at 12:30 p.m. There is no charge for attending the presentation, but if members of the public wish to join Rotarians in their lunch of a hot entrée, salad, and dessert, there is a $10 fee.
