fishOn Wednesday Feb 5 at 7pm at Harlan Hall, SW corner of 12th and Alabama, Silver City, Eileen Henry, fisheries technician for the US Forest Service will discuss the Native Fish of New Mexico. She will focus on the issues that native New Mexican fish face and the management efforts to conserve them. The arid and sometimes harsh environment of the Southwest is home to a unique group of endemic fish, and Eileen will address the importance of preserving and restoring the native fishes throughout our ever-changing environment. As water is a scarce resource in the region, water quality and quantity are appropriate indicators of environmental health.  Native fish often reflect these conditions by the size and health of their populations. Join us for this free, informative program, and bring the family!

Eileen Henry grew up in Southern New Mexico and received a Bachelor in Agricultural Science in Fisheries and Wildlife at New Mexico State University in Las Cruces, NM.  After her undergraduate education she worked in fisheries conservation throughout New Mexico. Her experience ranges from land management agencies to private environmental companies. Eileen now lives in Silver City, NM, and works for the Gila National Forest. She is dedicated to the conservation of our natural resources for future generations and hopes to make a difference every step along her way.
