The Grant County Copper CowBelles now are offering two types of scholarships for local students. In addition to their academic award for college students pursuing agricultural degrees, the group now offers financial help to applicants aspiring to jobs in work fields such as linemen, welders, veterinarian techs and electricians.

Spokesperson Pat Hunt said, "It is important to keep as many young people as we can working in our rural areas. The Copper CowBelles, who support agricultural industries, are now realizing how important it is to maintain our infrastructure type occupations. There is a great need for those in rural towns to have access to plumbers, mechanics and other service industries."

To qualify for an academic scholarship a student must be a graduate of a Grant County High School and be recognized as a sophomore at the college of their choice pursuing a degree in an agricultural field. Individuals looking to work in a trade must also be a Grant County student. The award could be used for example, to offset trade school tuition fees or expenses for the purchase of tools needed for training.

To obtain an application contact a Copper CowBelle or call or email Pat Hunt at 575-534-7649, arroyomangus@yahoo.com. The deadline is August 24, 2020.
