Deborah Simon, a member of the Santa Fe Rotary Club, will update Silver City Rotarians at a July 28 Zoom meeting on what Rotarians have done to benefit people in the Central Highlands around Uspantan in Guatemala. Several members of the Rotary Club of Silver City have travelled to Guatemala as part of Rotary teams visiting and helping with projects in that area.

“Our Silver City Rotary Club has been a proud supporter of Guatemala water and education projects for more than a decade,” notes Sunny Kellerman, District Governor for Rotary District 5520.  “We invite anyone in the community who has an interest in viewing this program to join us by calling Wendy Spurgeon at 575 219-7851, who can give you the ID and password to enable you to join in the meeting,” Kellerman says. “Deborah Simon is an inspiring speaker,” she adds.

Rotary, the world’s oldest and largest service organization, is comprised of business and professional leaders who encourage high ethical standards in all vocations and believe in building goodwill and peace in the world. It has more than 1.2 million members in 167 countries.

Since its founding in 1923, the Silver City Rotary Club and its members have provided monetary support and volunteer workers for dozens of Silver City and Grant County civic projects as well as supporting and participating in the many humanitarian projects sponsored by Rotary International and Rotary District 5520.
