Quemado, NM, August 11, 2020--For Immediate Release. The Quemado Ranger District, Gila National Forest has noticed increased amounts of household garbage in the dumpsters at the Quemado Lake Recreation Area.

The dumpsters at all Gila National Forest recreation sites are designated to be used by recreational users to throw away the trash created while visiting the forest. The dumpsters are emptied by Forest Service employees 1-2 times per week and are not for use by the public to throw away their household garbage. Throwing your household garbage in these dumpsters fills them up faster and then recreational users end up with nowhere to dump their trash. Excessive garbage also attracts wildlife to the recreational areas.

If you live in Catron County and wish to dispose of trash you may take it to the Catron County Solid Waste Convenience Center. Their locations and schedules can be found at http://catroncounty.us/custom.html?id=16554.
