Silver City, NM, September 25, 2020 - Navopache Electric Cooperative (NEC) is planning a power outage, to maintain routine maintenance to existing electrical line, on Tuesday, September 29, 2020. The planned outage is expected to begin at 10:00 a.m. and will be in effect for approximately seven (7) hours. Impacted areas will include Luna, Reserve, Glenwood and surrounding areas.

Due to the planned power outage, the Reserve Ranger District will be closed on September 29 and visitors will need to contact the Quemado Ranger District at (575) 773-4678. The Glenwood Ranger District will also be closed and visitors will need to contact the Silver City Ranger District at (575) 388-8201.

The Gila National Forest and NEC reminds the public to plan ahead for this outage by following normal emergency preparedness procedures found on the Arizona Emergency Information Network at https://ein.az.gov/get-prepared.

To adequately prepare, make sure your generator has been installed and inspected by a qualified electrician, because generators that are installed incorrectly can back feed into power lines, even if they are de-energized, and can potentially cause serious injury or even prove fatal to NEC crew members. NEC will provide updates during the outage on their Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/navopache/  and on their website at https://www.navopache.org/. For questions or concerns please call NEC at 928-368-5118 or 1-800-543-6324.
