The Silver City Friends of the Library (FOL) is so very pleased to announce that, weather permitting, it will hold a Book Sale on Saturday, October 10, from 10:00am-3:00pm, in the parking lot at 1510 Market Street, in the Town of Silver City’s maintenance yard on Market across from Cheyenne Street. 

In accordance with Covid-19 health regulations, the FOL Bookstore will not be open, but 25-plus tables will be setup outside to hold and present the hundreds of books (including children’s books)  and other reading media that have been donated and processed since the January sale.

“We want to thank the Town for giving us the go-ahead to have this outdoor sale and we’ll be following New Mexico’s  Covid-19 regulations for mask wearing and social distancing in public places,” said Barbara Guber, FOL Bookstore Manager.

To maintain social distancing, there may be times when we have a maximum number of people at the tables, and others may have to wait a short time to enter the sale.  Also, customer parking is available street-side only because of space issues in the parking lot. We’ll have FOL volunteers available to assist visitors in carrying their purchases to their cars.”

Book sale visitors will be provided with bags that they can fill for $2.00 per bag. “There is no limit on the number of bags that may be purchased.  It’s a great time to think ahead to autumn reading and holiday gifting,” said Jeannie Miller, FOL president.  “We invite everyone to come and enjoy time outdoors and the wonder of wandering through a ‘field of reading’.  Funds from our book sales go to the Silver City Public Library to support its programs and activities which serve our whole community and enhance its quality of life.” 

Book donations can be placed in the Friends of the Library donation bins outside the Silver City Library main door.  These are located to the right of the Library’s bin for returning library books.  For further information regarding donations in general or for arranging pickup for large donations, please contact folsilvercitynm@gmail.com or call 575-538-4940.
