Glenwood, NM, January 13, 2021--For Immediate Release. The Gila National Forest, Glenwood Ranger District temporarily closed a segment of the Whitewater Trail #207.1, due to a hazard which is adjacent to the swimming hole, in July 2020.

The initial closure order was implemented due a large rock perilously located above the swimming hole which is in an area affected during the flood post-Whitewater-Baldy Fire.  The new closure order has been modified to further delineate the closure. Copies of the new closure order and the map can be seen on the Forest website under Alerts and Notices.

There are falling rocks in the area and a dangerous situation persists. There is a possibility of rockslides and a barrier is still in place. Do not climb over or cross by the barrier.
