brucebloyBruce Bloy, YellowstoneThe Grant County Art Guild, located at 316 N Bullard Street, Silver City, is featuring three artists for the month of February: photographer Bruce Bloy, painter and jewelry artist Julia Miller, and painter Carolyn Paez. Each of the artists will have a display in one of the gallery’s large windows in addition to their displays inside the gallery.

Bruce Bloy is the GCAG Gallery’s newest artist. A locally well known photographer, Bloy has traveled world wide. His work at the Gallery allows him to share those experiences along with his keen perceptions of our striking New Mexico landscape and culture. He is particularly passionate about photographing music festivals, including blue grass, rock and jazz. His lens has captured images at the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival, as well as our local Silver City Blues Festival and Pickamania.

Since 2014, Bloy has collaborated with the Silver City Community Theater and the Virus Theater Ensemble, photographing rehearsals and performances for archival and promotional purposes.

juliamillerJulia Miller, Houses on CooperJulia Miller has lived in Silver City since 1974, when she received a degree from WNMU to teach art.  For 36 years Miller taught art locally, first by starting an art program in Cliff, and later teaching elementary students in Silver City.  Retirement allowed Miller to experiment with a wide range of art mediums.  She has dabbled in stained glass, mosaics, jewelry wrapping and painting, to name just a few. She currently shows jewelry and paintings at the GCAG Gallery.

carolynpaezCarolyn Paez, Early Spring Carolyn Paez also enjoyed a career in education. After years of studying and thinking about art, she found that challenge is the initial factor for her paintings. She seeks to emulate the design, light, hues and emotion found in the art of the “Creator”.  Realizing this unattainable task keeps her motivation endless. Paez enjoys painting and drawing in a variety of genre and using a wide assortment of mediums including oils, acrylics, pastels, colored pencils or graphite.

The Grant County Art Guild Gallery is open 7 days a week from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM.
