“Struttin On” by Kathy WinklerGlenwood’s July 4th weekend events are getting back to normal, including the Frisco Cowbelles fundraising auction. The auction begins at 7 p.m. on Saturday, July 3, following the Cowbelles annual BBQ at Glenwood Community Park. There will be both a live auction and a silent auction. The art auction features work by well-known Western artists including Robert “Shoofly” Shufelt, Gary Morton, JaNeil Anderson and Kathy Winkler. Proceeds provide money for ag scholarships and help fund the famous educational McKeen Ranch Days program where buses of school children arrive at the ranch to learn about agriculture and ranching.
Robert "Shoofly" Shufelt is primarily known for his depiction of the modern-day cowboy and Ranch lifestyle in the Southwest.
Originally from Illinois, he attended art school and worked in illustration before moving to a cattle ranch near Wickenburg, Arizona. As of 1991, he lives in New Mexico.
Shufelt's Pencil graphite drawings capture ranching culture which is absorbed in the cowboy way. In 2014 he was awarded the New Mexico Governor's Awards for Excellence in the Arts alongside author George R. R. Martin.

JaNeil Anderson was born in Safford, Arizona, and was raised in nearby Duncan, on her parents farm on the Gila River. First hand experience with the gathering, branding and cooking for the cowhands has afforded JaNeil the opportunity to live, work and love the lifestyle of the American cowboy and rancher. Coupled with her artistic talents and her ability to capture the emotion of the moment, JaNeil's art is unique and refreshing.

Gary Morton has been painting contemporary cowboy life for more than 30 years.
He was honored as the 2015 recipient of the “Rounders Award”, a lifetime achievement award given in New Mexico, for his artistic contributions to the West.
Morton began cowboying on different ranches as a teen and ultimately became wagon boss on the historic Bell Ranch in New Mexico. Gary continues to create authentic paintings of the contemporary working cowboy.

Kathy Winkler began her career as an artist when she was very young - drawing animals at home and at school. As an adult, while raising two daughters, she won art show competitions. Later, she worked as an engineering graphics artist. After 20 years in government contracting, she decided to go back to one of her true loves -- creating paintings of animals.
Over the past 15 years, her style has changed, but her subjects remain the same. Her work is in permanent collections at several museums including the New Mexico Farm and Ranch Heritage Museum in Las Cruces; the National Buffalo Museum in Jamestown, ND; and the Butler Longhorn Museum in League City, Texas. In addition, her work appears as wall art through Magic Murals, and Artwork on Tile produces her artwork on ceramic tiles.
