Silver City, NM. September 16, 2021.  Have you ever looked at dark sky photographs and wonder how the photographer managed to capture such beautiful imagery? Well, the Gila National Forest wants to help you with some fun tips on how to take night sky photos.

The Gila National Forest is hosting a free Dark Sky Photography Class on October 2 from 7 p.m. - 11 p.m. You don't need a fancy expensive camera to participate. Amateur photographer and FS volunteer Deborah Calkins will teach you how to use your camera to take beautiful night sky photographs. Class size is limited to fifteen people, ages 12 and up and COVID-safe practices will be adhered to. You must sign up to participate. The class will be held at Fort Bayard. Please contact Glenwood RD Recreation Program Manager via email at ellyse.deldin@usda.gov before September 23, 2021 at 4:00 p.m.

Selection process will be made by September 27 and you will be notified via email and sent an email and the time and place to meet. A number will be assigned to entries and a random number generator will be used if the forest receives more than fifteen applicants.
