December is usually a time for lots of gatherings in Glenwood and there will probably still be many smaller, private get-togethers. Some of the big community holiday favorites are still on the calendar.

Glenwood Community Church continues one of the town’s most beloved traditions, the Live Nativity on Christmas Eve.

This Christmas Eve event involves local youngsters presenting a live depiction of the nativity at Glenwood Community Church on Highway 180. People from throughout the community are involved. The outdoor event starts at 4 p.m. with a meal of homemade soups and breads. The Live Nativity follows with toddlers to teens acting out roles retelling the birth of Jesus. Cliff Snyder will give a talk. Music will be provided by Tom Freestone. Everyone is welcome.

SHOP LOCAL

The Glenwood Street Market market has added new vendors and the regulars keep adding more unique handmade items to the wide variety of arts and crafts, baked goods, produce and snacks. With the holidays coming up, there are items geared to decorating as well as special gifts. The market is open every Saturday morning 8-ish until about 2 p.m. on Highway 180 in downtown Glenwood. 

The Catwalk Gallery and Gift Shop will be open Fridays, and possibly Saturdays, through Dec. 18 for holiday shopping. The shop is filled with artwork and unique gift items (or treats for yourself). It is located on Highway 180 in downtown Glenwood.

The rejuvenated Trading Post on Highway 180 in downtown Glenwood keeps getting better. The gift shop area has expanded and features items by local artisans, Catwalk T-shirts and a rock shop for all the rockhounds out there. It also offers basic groceries, snacks, drinks, sandwiches and – gas (24-7 with credit card.) The Trading Post is open daily until 7 p.m.
