Tax-Aide provides free tax assistance for people who need it most. State and Federal returns are prepared and filed electronically for FREE. Even if you do not have any withholding or you do not need to file a Federal Return, you might get money back this year!

Tax law changes in New Mexico for 2021 taxes means that most low-income taxpayers (under $36,000 per year) will receive money back. In addition, seniors over 65 who make less than $16,000 and pay rent or property taxes may qualify to receive rebates of $20 - $350. Exact amount depends on income level and total number of exemptions.

If you did not receive your 2021 stimulus check, the only way to get it is to file a tax return. If you received any child tax credits, you MUST file a return. If you did not receive your child tax credit, file a return to receive it now.

AARP, in cooperation with the Internal Revenue Service, will prepare and file Federal and/or New Mexico tax returns for taxpayers of any age and income level at NO CHARGE, in Silver City and in Bayard.

For SILVER CITY: You must pick up an AARP Tax Packet at one of the following locations: Silver City Public Library, Silver City Senior Center, Cliff Post Office, Cliff Senior Center, Lordsburg Senior Center, or the Grant County Administration Building.
