The February 7 meeting of PFLAG Silver City will feature members of the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Silver City’s (UUFSC) Welcoming Congregation Team speaking about the work being done toward applying for recognition as a Welcoming Congregation. The 6:00 PM meeting will be at the UUFSC, 3845 N. Swan, and is open to the public. Refreshments will be served, and masks are recommended to protect vulnerable people.

According to a recent UUFSC press release, “Welcoming Congregations demonstrate a commitment to support, affirm, and celebrate lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer people, and their history. They affirm marriage equality and advocate for the rights of LGBTQ people.”

Damie Nelson, President of PFLAG Silver City, stated, “PFLAG members have always known that the UUFSC is a welcoming, safe place for LGBTQ+ people, their families and their allies.  However, for the UUFSC to become an official Welcoming Congregation is important.  I would encourage  LGBTQ+ persons and their families to attend and learn more about what the UU has to offer those seeking community and a spiritual home.”
