ALCS is the ideal school environment for students who are interested in outdoor and experiential education.

At ALCS middle school students gain hands-on instruction in all content areas throughout the week. On Fridays, students get out in the community to be of service. On Friday, March 3 middle school students were helping with the food distribution program at The Commons: Center for Food Security and Sustainability. They sorted mangos and cucumbers so that food recipients would be offered the freshest produce. Students also hiked Boston Hill trails and learned about meditation and mindfulness with Jeff Goin of the Lotus Center. Finally, students visited the High Desert Humane Society animal shelter to interact with the dogs and cats available for adoption and observe how the humane society cares for the animals.

The next enrollment lottery for this free public charter school is Friday, March 10. Paperwork is due in the front office at 410 West 10th Street in Silver City by 4pm on March 9. The complete list of dates and required lottery application materials may be found on the website. You may also call the school at (575) 538-2547 for further information.
