Saturday, April 15 at 9 am – 12 pm at Gough Park Parking Lot

Pick It Up-Toss No Mas invites the community to celebrate Earth Day week by volunteering to remove litter in our community and waterways. During the month of April, people from all over the world are coming together to collectively address the climate crisis and work towards creating a healthy future for everyone. We need volunteers like you to help collectively reduce litter in our community and keep Silver City clean and beautiful! Volunteer to team up to clean up our community!

Pick It Up-Toss No Mas is proud to partner with Gila Earth Day for our upcoming cleanup to be held Saturday, April 15 9 AM-12 PM at Gough Park parking lot in Silver City, New Mexico.

Meet the Pick It Up – Toss No Mas team in the Gough Park parking lot and grab supplies, including trash bags, gloves, trash pickers, snacks, and free t-shirts. Return to Gough Park parking lot between 11 am and noon to drop off collected trash and recyclables and record your cleanup results that will qualify you for prizes.

We recommend that volunteers wear closed-toe shoes and bring a hat, water bottle, and sunscreen. Children 17 and under must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Families with younger children are encouraged to clean up litter in their neighborhoods, local parks, or waterways since children under 12 are not permitted on state highways for the cleanup.

Check out the new Pick It Up-Toss No Mas website www.silvercitytossnomas.org to sign up to volunteer and to learn about litter prevention opportunities, the business pledge program, Adopt-A-Roadway or Waterway program, and solid waste disposal and recycling resources.

We would like to extend our gratitude to the volunteers and teams who helped collect 1,360 pounds of trash and debris during last month’s ‘Spring Cleaning’ Cleanup. We would also like to thank Copper Country Dumpsters for sponsoring this event which helped us collect large broken appliances and household items no longer of use to the community. We appreciate your support! Volunteers are the foundation of the Pick It Up – Toss No Mas program. Volunteers are the foundation of the Pick It Up – Toss No Mas program. Since October 2021, over 470 volunteers have collected 12,792 pounds of trash, debris, and recyclables from Highways 180 and 90, Silver City neighborhoods, Big Ditch Park, and San Vicente Creek.

Monthly Pick It Up – Toss No Mas clean-up events are held the third Saturday of every month. Community members can also adopt a roadway or waterway to take care of and clean up throughout the year. Alternatively, you can organize your own cleanup, and Pick It Up – Toss No Mas can supply the trash pickers, trash bags and gloves for your event.

Pick It Up – Toss No Mas community cleanup events are partially funded by a grant from New Mexico Clean and Beautiful and are sponsored by the Town of Silver City, Silver City Watershed Keepers, Silver City Recycles, Silver City MainStreet, SWNMACT, Southwest Solid Waste Authority, Silver City-Grant County Chamber of Commerce, and New Mexico Department of Transportation’s Toss No Mas Program.
