Cyril Nalty, president of LGBTQ Grant County, will provide an overview of the agency's work of providing support and fostering a sense of community for local LGBTQ individuals.

"We believe that everyone deserves to feel accepted and loved for who they are, regardless of their gender identity or sexual orientation," Nalty said.

He will also talk about the upcoming 2023 Pride Festival which will be held on September 9th at Gough Park.

Cyril Nalty is a native New Mexican, born in Silver City. He grew up on the edge of the Navajo Indian Reservation in Thoreau, NM, where his parents started the town’s volunteer fire department. Nalty attended New Mexico State University on a track scholarship, earning a B.S. in Education, and later received a master’s degree from the University of Idaho. He was a teacher and coach for 32 years in New Mexico, Texas, Idaho, Oregon, and Ohio, and had a reputation as a student-centered, compassionate, and effective motivator. He is currently a real estate broker in Silver City.

This Sunday there will be a Children’s Religious Education program. Parents are invited to bring children four years old and above to attend youth-led classes. Ninth grader Ivy Stephens-Etheridge, a former CRE student, will read a story and lead a lesson on “Kindness.”

Masks are now optional, but their use is encouraged. We will continue to serve refreshments on the patio and in the building. Visitors are always welcome.
