SiriKhalsaNovember 26, at 10 am, 3845 North Swan Street –  “Looking At the End of Our Lives"

Siridharma Khalsa will conduct an interactive and meditative program on the topic of death and dying. Of imagining the end of our lives.

“We waste valuable time avoiding a good look at our own deaths.  We are privileged to be able to plan the kind of death we want...unlike most of the rest of the world. Learning how to 'be with death' enriches one's life,” Khalsa said.

Siridharma Khalsa has lived in Grant County since 1997. Originally from Toronto, Canada, her first close contact with death was at the age of 15, when her father died suddenly. While working at Gila Regional Medical Center's Home Health and Hospice Department for four years until it closed in 2014, she learned about all the needs of those dying over a period of time.

Khalsa said that getting lost in the Gila on Mother's Day, 2009, was an eye opener for her about fear and that being prepared is the ultimate tool for coping with that fear.

“Being a yoga and meditation teacher since 1978 has given me a perspective on the depth of the human spirit, which has fueled a desire to help people to face the inescapable fact of life - dying is inevitable,” she said.

There are speakers on the patio if you wish to listen to the service outside.

Childcare is available on second and fourth Sundays. Parents are invited to bring children 3-12 years old to play and participate in activities led by 10th grader Ivy Stephens-Etheridge.
