Are you concerned about seniors being isolated and the shortage of services in Silver City to help people successfully age in place? A Senior Village could benefit our community and address these issues.

What is a Senior Village?

A Senior Village is a community based, non-profit, grassroots organization formed by a group of caring volunteers who want to help people to maintain independence and quality of life in their own homes.  A Village is not a place, but an organization that can link its members to many supportive community services.  The mission of a Village is to build a sense of community while offering resources and services, such as volunteer assistance with transportation, light home maintenance, and technology coaching.  There are already over 100 established Senior Villages in the U.S.  Read more about the National Village Model at:  https://www.vtvnetwork.org .

We need your input. Each Village is different and is designed to reflect the needs of its members and community. You can help us learn more about the above so that together we can create our own Village.  Do you help care for seniors at home, or could you use some assistance yourself? We are gathering information about what services are most needed, and how we can connect with the people who need them. We will also discuss how you can become involved with supporting our senior community. Your contributions are valued and will help us move this program forward.

Please attend.  January 25th, 1:00 pm, Starlight Theater (1915 N. Gold St.) Silver City. See you there!
