 Dave McDonald and Beth Cable will talk about the local Southwest New Mexico Bird Alliance, the local chapter of the National Audubon Society, and local birds and where to find them.

 Cable will discuss activities, outings, programs (presentations on natural history and conservation). She will also explain how the chapters fit into the larger national organization and its activities (for example, the now global tradition of a CBC – Christmas Bird Count). 

 McDonald will talk about local birds and at least three local birding hotspots – the San Vicente Cienega trail just off the end of Bullard St; Little Cherry Creek Road and trail in the Gila National Forest; Lake Roberts, also in the Gila National Forest.

 He will show his photos of some of the resident nesting birds, some winter visitors, and some passage migrants (some of which move all the way from the Arctic coast to southern South America). This constantly changing delights constitute a year-round source of pleasure for birdwatchers and hikers in the marvelous habitats that surround Silver City.

 Beth Cable currently works for Silver City Watershed Keepers (part of GRIP, the Gila River Information Project). One of her projects has been involvement in habitat restoration of the San Vicente Cienega (continuation of the Big Ditch in downtown Silver City). She is also a yoga instructor and field biologist. She is a wife, daughter, sister and friend and happy owner of a beloved rescue dog. 

Dave McDonald, Beth’s husband, is a retired professor (Zoology Dept. of the U. of Wyoming). Most of his research centered on the behavior of neotropical birds called manakins (Ecuador, Costa Rica, Panama). He has been an avid birder since college. He and Beth moved to Silver City three years ago, after more than twenty years in Wyoming. 

 Childcare is available every Sunday. Zoey Cronin will lead a formal children's program on second and fourth Sundays.  

 Children are welcome to participate on any Sunday, but they will get the most out of the program if they attend second and fourth Sundays somewhat regularly. Family adults may stay for the children's program or attend the adult program. Children are encouraged to bring a small item that represents someone or something they are grateful for that week.

 There are speakers on the patio if you wish to enjoy the service outside.

Masks are now optional, but their use is encouraged. We will continue to serve refreshments on the patio and in the building. Visitors are always welcome.
