Santa Fe, N.M. - New Mexico Film Office Director Nick Maniatis announced today that the television limited series "Waco" produced by The Weinstein Company, will begin principal photography mid-April thru the end of June in Santa Fe. The six part series will premiere on Paramount Network in 2018.

"The Weinstein Company is known for high quality projects with intriguing storylines and 'Waco' is no exception," said New Mexico State Film Office Director Nick Maniatis. "A mini-series means a longer production time, more money being spent and more people working."

"We're very happy to have 'Waco' here, particularly because of the number and variety of locations they're using throughout Santa Fe County," said County Manager Katherine Miller. "From the studios to the rural southern reaches to urban County office space, we're glad to accommodate such a wide-ranging production."

The production will employ approximately 250 New Mexico crew members and approximately 2,000 New Mexico background talent.

"Waco" is directed by John Erick Dowdle ("No Escape," "As Above, So Below") and Dennie Gordon ("Legion," "Power," "Empire") along with producers Harvey Weinstein ("Six," "Project Runway," "Lion"), Salvatore Stabile ("The Sopranos," "Rescue Me," Revenge" "Power") and Drew Dowdle ("No Escape," "As Above, So Below").

Starring Michael Shannon ("Man of Steel," "Nocturnal Animals," "Midnight Special"), Taylor Kitsch ("Lone Survivor," "True Detective," "The Normal Heart"), Paul Sparks ("Midnight Special," "Boardwalk Empire," "The Night Of"), Andrea Riseborough ("Birdman," "Nocturnal Animals," "The Witness for the Prosecution"), Rory Culkin ("Signs," "Sneaky Pete," "Columbus"), Shea Whigham ("Boardwalk Empire," "Fargo," "Vice Principals") and John Leguizamo ("Bloodline," "The Crash," "John Wick: Chapter 2").

"Waco" will reveal the untold story exploring the true life details leading up to and chronicling the 1993 standoff between the FBI, ATF and David Koresh's spiritual sect, The Branch Davidians. Told from several perspectives of those most intimately involved in both sides of the conflict, this story has never been shared on television before and is surprising in its stark contrast to the media narrative at the time and what is remembered of Waco almost 25 years later.

Shannon, Kitsch, the Dowdle brothers and Salvatore Stabile will executive produce the series along with TWC Co-Chairmen Harvey Weinstein and Bob Weinstein, President and COO David Glasser, Co-head of Production Jennifer Malloy, and Head of Scripted Television Megan Spanjian of Weinstein Television. Ted Gold, Senior Vice President, Scripted Original Series and Lauren Ruggiero, Vice President, Scripted Programming, will oversee the project for Paramount Network.
