Las Cruces, New Mexico – In order to bring New Mexico Soil and Water Conservation Districts’ election protocol into compliance with the Local Election Act, two rules have been repealed:

With the recent passage of the Local Election Act – which standardizes elections throughout the state – the two rules are no longer necessary or applicable. The repeals take effect Jan. 1.

The New Mexico Department of Agriculture proposed repealing the two rules, and the New Mexico State University Board of Regents approved the repeals at its Nov. 29 special meeting. Legal authority is granted to the board of regents of New Mexico State University under the Soil and Water Conservation District Act, Sections 73-20-25 NMSA 1978.
