Plan includes Chaco region

Santa Fe, NM – On Monday March 30th, Energy, Minerals and Natural Resources Department (EMNRD) Cabinet Secretary Sarah Cottrell Propst requested the Interior Department provide additional time for the public to submit comments on the Draft Resource Management Plan Amendment and Environmental Impact Statement (RMPA/EIS) for the Farmington area including the Chaco region.

The 90-day public comment and review began on February 28, 2020, the letter requests extending the period to 120 days.

“In light of the global pandemic and public health crisis continuing to unfold, many state, local, and tribal leaders and their communities are focused on ensuring public safety first and foremost in this unprecedented situation,” said EMNRD Secretary Sarah Cottrell Propst.

“At the same time, it is critical the public has sufficient time to review and comment on the RMPA/EIS, extending the comment period is the right thing to do to ensure robust public participation.”

Comments can be submitted online, via email or mailed to the Bureau of Land Management Farmington office, directions can be found here.
