June 4, 2020 – The Grants Collective, a non-profit organization that works with other non-profits and public entities around New Mexico to grow their capacity by securing federal and other grant funding, has rebranded as Pivotal New Mexico. The new name and tagline – The Point of Impact – better reflect the organization's vision, which is to support organizations in having the resources needed to dramatically improve the social, economic and educational outlook in the state.

"The Grants Collective spun off from our sister organization The Grant Plant, a local grant-writing firm, which inspired the original name and matched our mission to expand the grant writing capabilities of New Mexico organizations," explained Terry Brunner, Pivotal New Mexico's CEO. "It was right at the time. But our mission has grown to provide a broader set of crucial services to New Mexico organizations. More and more we've found ourselves having to explain that we aren't a grant writing organization, and we aren't located in Grants, NM - we actually serve the entire state."

The executive leadership began the rebranding process in early January. The top phrases that emerged that accurately described the organization were Helping Organizations Pivot and Making a Positive Impact. Ultimately, the Board of Directors and Leadership Teams chose the name Pivotal New Mexico.

Pivotal New Mexico contracted with Sunny505, an Albuquerque-based communications firm, to create the new look and feel for the organization, as well as its new website.

"Pivotal New Mexico creates so many points of impact for the clients they serve," explained Sunny505 CEO Joanie Griffin. "We love the name. We chose to use bright colors and a vibrant palette to visually display how the organization positively makes an impact on New Mexico."

The rebranding continued during the Stay at Home orders. Pivotal New Mexico continued doing its important work and launched a new program for organizations impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. Funded by the Thornburg Foundation and Anchorum Foundation, Pivotal New Mexico provides New Mexico non-profits with information on COVID funding sources, assistance in applying for funding, and other help to get organizations through the crisis.
