The Trementina Canyon Fire is located 6 miles north of Trementina, NM in San Miguel County. Lightning started this fire on Monday afternoon and it is now estimated at 1,000 acres. No structures are threatened. Today firefighters are mopping-up hot spots and securing containment lines. Fire activity is moderate with active burning of pinon-juniper within the interior. Approximately 90 personnel are working on this fire, including crews from the Forestry Division Returning Heroes Program, New Mexico Department of Transportation (NMDOT), USDA Forest Service (USFS), Bureau of Land Management (BLM), Village of Angel Fire, Trementina Volunteer Fire Department, Los Alamos Fire Department, and Bernalillo County Fire Department.
