New Mexico State University President John Floros has appointed a search committee to identify candidates for a new vice president position that will lead initiatives in equity, diversity and inclusion.

Co-chaired by Provost Carol Parker and Luis Cifuentes, vice president for research and dean of the Graduate School, the committee will begin its work this month, with a charge to complete the search before the end of 2020 and have the newly created position filled by early in 2021.

Floros said the creation of the position reflects a need for NMSU to take strong action towards creating a workplace and an educational environment that better reflect the world around us, and provide opportunities and tools for our students and employees to thrive.

The description and terms of the position will be developed by the committee and its co-chairs.
