The East Well Fire located on state land near Claunch, NM in Socorro County is now 25% contained and remains estimated at 701 acres. No structures are threatened. Firefighters are making good progress on securing 7 miles of fire line by hand and using heavy equipment where needed. Areas of unburned fuels within the interior of the fire may continue to flare up and produce smoke. Approximately 100 personnel are working to contain the East Well Fire.

Smoke may continue to be seen during the day from the surrounding communities and potentially impact low lying areas overnight and in the morning. Individuals who are sensitive to wildfire smoke should take precautions and use the New Mexico Department of Health 5-3-1 Visibility Method to determine if it's safe to be outside.
