Santa Fe, NM: The Energy, Minerals and Natural Resources Department’s State Parks Division encourages all New Mexicans to provide input on the 2021-2026 Statewide Comprehensive Outdoor Recreation Plan (SCORP). The SCORP is being developed with the thoughtful input of local, state, and federal agencies, outdoor recreation businesses, non-profits, and interested public citizens.

The SCORP is updated every 5 years and is a requirement for the state to continue to receive federal funding from the Land and Water Conservation Fund.  The plan provides recommendations to guide outdoor recreation providers in achieving a common vision for outdoor recreation resources in New Mexico and identifies the economic contributions of outdoor recreation. 

The plan will:

• Address the state and nation's outdoor recreation trends and their economic impacts
• Inventory the state's recreation resources, including wetlands, and address how best to protect them
• Develop a vision for better integrating outdoor education into the state’s recreation opportunities
• Help determine the state’s priorities for awarding federal funds from the Land and Water Conservation Fund to local communities for critical infrastructure projects

We need input from every corner of the state to make sure all outdoor recreation resources are included and all voices are heard!
